Fixed-configuration Switch With Versatile Ports

Juniper EX3400 Specifications

But, unlike some other Juniper switches, Juniper EX3400 specs do not vary considerably from one model to the next. But there are a few distinct differences, specifically the number of ports, the inclusion of the PoE feature, which some models include and others don’t, as well as the airflow direction. The Juniper EX3400 power supply rating is significantly higher on devices that support the PoE feature.

Juniper EX3400-24T

The Juniper EX3400-24T has 24 RJ-45 ports, which support three different Ethernet speeds: 100 Mbps, 1G, and 10G Ethernet. The maximum capacity of the EX3400-24T is 288 Gbps. This particular 24-port model does not include the PoE feature, meaning the ports do not have the additional power support to power devices — like phones or video cameras —that are plugged directly into each port.

Like every other EX3400 switch, the EX3400-24T has four SFP+ uplink ports that support up to 10G Ethernet and two QSFP+ ports that support up to 40G Ethernet. The fans run from front to back.

Juniper EX3400-24P

The Juniper EX3400-24P also has 24 RJ-45 ports that support 100 Mbps, 1G, and 10G Ethernet. The maximum capacity on the EX3400-24P is the same as the EX3400-24P at 288 Gbps.

Unlike the other 24-port EX3400 switch, the EX3400-24P does support the PoE feature, so each port provides up to 30W for powering devices, such as phones, video cameras, and more. The total PoE supported on the EX3400-24P is 370W with one power supply and 720W with two power supplies.

This particular model also has four SFP+ uplink ports that support up to 10G Ethernet and two QSFP+ ports that support up to 40G Ethernet. The fans on this switch also run from front to back.

Juniper EX3400-48T

The Juniper EX3400-48T has 48 RJ-45 ports, each of which supports multiple Ethernet speeds of 100 Mbps, 1G, and 10G. The additional ports increase the maximum capacity on this device to 336 Gbps. This particular model does not support the PoE feature, so it cannot power any specific devices.

This model also includes four SFP+ uplink ports that support up to 10G Ethernet and two QSFP+ ports that support up to 40G Ethernet. The fans on the EX3400-48T run from front to back.

Juniper EX3400-48T-AFI

The Juniper EX3400-48T-AFI includes 48 RJ-45 ports that support Ethernet speeds of 100 Mbps, 1G, and 10G. This model also has a maximum capacity of 336 Gbps. However, it does not support PoE.

The biggest difference between this model and the other four EX3400 models is that it’s fans run from back to front versus front to back. And, just like all the other EX3400 models, the Juniper EX3400-48T-AFI has four SFP+ uplink ports that support 10G Ethernet and two QSFP+ ports that support 40G Ethernet.

Juniper EX3400-48P

The Juniper EX3400-48P also includes 48 RJ-45 ports that each support 100 Mbps, 1G, and 10 Ethernet. The maximum capacity on this model is the same as the two other 48-port models: 336 Gbps.

However, unlike the other two 48-port EX3400 switches, the ports on the EX3400-48P support the PoE feature. Each port provides 30W of power for devices such as phones, video cameras, and more. One power supply provides 740W of power and two power supplies provide 1440W of power.

The EX3400-48P also includes four SFP+ ports that each support up to 10G Ethernet, as well as two QSFP+ ports that support up to 40G Ethernet. The airflow on this model goes from front to back.
