Arista 7050X and Arista 7050X2 Series Switches

The Arista 7050X Series is technically comprised of two series. In addition to the Arista 7050X Series, there’s the Arista 7050X2 series — model numbers that include an “X2” distinguish themselves as 7050X2 models and have more advanced specifications.

Arista 7050X2 models feature a 16MB buffer compared with a 12MB buffer on the 7050X models. This ensures there’s no decline in performance due to congestion or microbursts.

Both the Arista 7050X and Arista 7050X2 series are further broken into three categories:

• Arista 7050SX
• Arista 7050TX
• Arista 7050QX

Combined, these three categories offer a wide range of fixed-configuration options, including 1 rack unit (RU) and 2 RU devices with RJ45, SFP+ and QSFP+ ports.

Arista 7050SX Switches

These switches are available in both 1 RU and 2 RU models. The 2 RU models feature nearly double the port density compared with the 1 RU models, including more 10G and 40G Ethernet ports. But all devices include a combination of SFP+ and QSFP+ ports.

The five Arista 7050SX models are:

• The 7050SX-64, a 1 RU device with 48 SFP+ ports and four QSFP+ ports
• The 7050SX-72Q a 1 RU device with 48 SFP+ ports and six QSFP+ ports
• The 7050SX2-72Q, a 1 RU device with 48 SFP+ ports and six QSFP+ ports
• The 7050SX-128, a 2 RU device with 96 SFP+ ports and eight QSFP+ ports
• The 7050SX2-128, a 2 RU device with 96 SFP+ ports and eight QSFP+ ports

Of the Arista 7050SX switches we stock, we specialize in selling product numbers DCS-7050SX2-72Q-R and DCS-7050SX2-72Q-F.

The primary difference between the 7050SX-72Q and the 7050SX2-72Q is the amount of power used by each one. The 7050SX2-72Q model is slightly more energy efficient.

That’s also the case for the 7050SX-128 and the 7050SX2-128; the 7050SX2-128 is more energy efficient than the 7050SX-128. Other than that, the two models are nearly identical.

Arista 7050TX Switches

These are all 1 RU devices, except for the 7050TX2-128, a 7050X2 Series switch that measures 2 RUs and includes the greatest port density of all four switches. Each 7050TX switch includes a combination of RJ45 ports, which support up to 10G Ethernet, and QSFP+ ports.

The four Arista 7050TX models are:

• The 7050TX-48, a 1 RU device with 32 RJ45 ports and four QSFP+ ports
• The 7050TX-64, a 1 RU device with 48 RJ45 ports and four QSFP+ ports
• The 7050TX-72Q, a 1 RU device with 48 RJ45 ports and six QSFP+ ports
• The 7050TX2-128, a 2 RU device with 96 RJ45 ports and eight QSFP+ ports

Arista 7050QX Switches

There are only two Arista 7050QX models:

• The Arista 7050QX2-32S, a 1 RU device with 4 SFP+ ports and 32 QSFP+ ports

The main difference between the two switches is energy efficiency. The 7050QX2-32S, a 7050X2 Series device, consumes less energy than the 7050QX-32S, a 7050X device.
