Four Arista switches share the same basic shape, 32 x 100G QSFP ports plus two SFP+ ports in 1RU, and between them they are the most common 100G leaf and spine switches on the refurbished market: the 7060CX-32S, 7060CX2-32S, 7050CX3-32S, and the current 7050CX3-32C. They are also the models Arista has been retiring in 2025 and 2026, which changes the buying calculus. This page lays out the real differences, what Arista’s end-of-sale notices say, and which one to buy for a given job.

What Actually Differs
7060CX-32S vs 7060CX2-32S. Same ports, same 6.4 Tbps, same 450 ns latency and power. The CX2 has a larger 22 MB buffer (versus 16 MB) and 8 GB of system memory (versus 4 GB), which matters for EOS release headroom and for larger EVPN control planes. On the used market the price gap is usually small, so the CX2 is the better buy unless you are matching an existing CX-32S deployment exactly.
7060CX2-32S vs 7050CX3-32S. This is the real decision. The 7060 is the lower-latency box (450 ns vs 800 ns); the 7050CX3 has the larger 32 MB buffer, the 7050X3 feature set (the 7050X3 guide details its table profiles, NAT, and 25G standards support), and lower typical power. For a general-purpose 100G leaf or spine with mixed traffic and larger route tables, the 7050CX3 is the more flexible switch; for latency-sensitive workloads (trading, HPC, storage interconnect) the 7060CX2 is the better tool.
7050CX3-32S vs 7050CX3-32C. Per Arista’s 7050X3 data sheet these are identical in ports, throughput, buffer, and latency; the 32C has 16 GB of memory as standard and marginally lower power. Arista’s September 2025 notice names the 32C as the replacement for the 32S, and its July 2026 notice names the 32C as the replacement for the 7060CX and 7060CX2 as well. Lifecycle: What the 2025–2026 Notices Mean for Buyers
Arista announced end of sale for the 7050CX3-32S on September 20, 2025 (last day to order March 20, 2026, software bug fixes through March 20, 2029, end of life March 20, 2031) and for the 7060CX-32S, 7060CX-32S-ES, 7060CX-32C, and 7060CX2-32S on July 1, 2026 (last day to order October 1, 2026, bug fixes through October 1, 2029, end of life October 1, 2031). Under Arista’s five-year policy, all four remain fully supportable (TAC, RMA, contract renewal) until their end-of-life dates, so a refurbished unit bought in 2026 has manufacturer support available for roughly five more years. The practical effects: new-unit supply ends this year, refurbished supply grows as operators refresh, and prices for these models typically become the most attractive point in the 100G market. Which One to Buy
- Expanding an existing fabric: match what you have; mixing buffer sizes and silicon generations across a leaf tier complicates capacity planning and troubleshooting.
- New 100G leaf/spine on a budget: 7050CX3-32S or 7060CX2-32S, whichever is priced better that week; the 32S is past end of sale and the CX2 reaches its last order date on October 1, 2026, which makes both the sweet spot for refurbished value.
- Latency-critical: 7060CX2-32S (450 ns).
- Buffer- and feature-critical, or you want the longest runway: 7050CX3-32C, the only one of the four still sold new by Arista.
- Need 400G uplinks: none of these; look at the 7050X4 Series or the 7280CR3 in our 7280R3 selection guide.
