At only 1 RU in size, the QFX5100-48S-3AFI is a
QFX5100 Series switch that’s made for 10G Ethernet applications.
It has 48 SFP+ ports, which each support up to 10G Ethernet and six QSFP+ ports, which each support up to 40G Ethernet. Like other QFX5100-48S switches, this is also energy efficient.
Although the QFX5100-48S-3AFI doesn’t support any expansion modules, like some of the other QFX5100 switches, it provides a comparable port density. In addition, each QSFP+ port can be broken out into four SFP+ ports, increasing the total 10G port density to 72.
The maximum capacity of the QFX5100-48S-3AFI is 1.44 Tbps.
The standout feature on this particular device has to do with the management ports. While many of the QFX5100 switches have only two management ports, the QFX5100-48S-3AFI has three. There’s the standard RJ-45 port, but there are two SFP ports rather than only two.
Juniper’s QFX5100-48S-3AFI features back-to-front airflow. It also has an AC power supply and its power consumption is only 150 W. In fact, QFX5100-48S switches consume less power than all other QFX5100 switches.
