Deployment Scenarios and Industry Applications

• WiFi 6/6E Access Point Connectivity: The primary use case for the 48ZC2 — 2.5G and 5G mGig ports eliminate the 1GbE bottleneck for modern wireless access points, delivering the full throughput that WiFi 6/6E clients expect. The 8 × 5G ports with 60W 802.3bt PoE are ideal for high-performance APs with external antennas.
• Enterprise Campus Access Layer: A future-proof access switch for connecting desktops, IP phones, and printers alongside multi-gigabit devices — with 25G and 100G uplinks to Arista campus spine or distribution switches.
• Video Surveillance and Physical Security: 802.3bt 60W PoE on 5G ports powers advanced PTZ cameras and multi-sensor devices, while Persistent PoE maintains power during switch reboots — critical for mission-critical security infrastructure.
• Healthcare and Education: 802.1X authentication and VXLAN segmentation isolate medical devices, student networks, and administrative systems on a single physical infrastructure. Multi-gigabit ports support bandwidth-intensive medical imaging and lecture capture systems.
• IoT and Smart Building: FlowTracker device fingerprinting identifies and segments IoT devices automatically, while VRF segmentation isolates building automation from corporate traffic.
• Retail and Hospitality: Multi-gigabit ports support high-density WiFi for guest services and digital signage, while PoE powers point-of-sale devices and access points — all managed through a single CloudVision pane of glass.
