Juniper PTX Series Packet Transport Routers
The Juniper PTX Series is Juniper’s packet transport router family for internet peering, core routing and infrastructure edge roles in cloud provider, service provider and content provider networks. The current fixed-configuration platforms run Junos OS Evolved on Juniper’s Express silicon and deliver 400GbE and 800GbE density with inline MACsec. BrightStar Systems supplies refurbished PTX routers on a request-for-quote basis; every unit is tested on our 9-point process and covered by our 1-year in-house warranty for end users (90 days for resellers).
Which PTX?
PTX10001 Series: the PTX10001-36MR is a 1U, 9.6 Tbps router with 24 x 400GbE QSFP56-DD and 12 x 100GbE QSFP28 ports, Express 4 silicon and inline MACsec on all 100G and 400G interfaces. Also sold as PTX10001-36MR-K (adds TPM 2.0 with DevID) and PTX10001-36MR-LT.
PTX10002 Series: the PTX10002-36QDD is a 2U, 28.8 Tbps router with 36 x 800GbE QSFP-DD ports (channelizable to 400G and 100G), Express 5 silicon and inline MACsec on every port.
PTX10003 Series: the PTX10003-80C (8 Tbps) and PTX10003-160C (16 Tbps) are 3U routers with up to 16 or 32 x 400GbE, or 80 or 160 x 100GbE, ExpressPlus silicon and inline AES-256 MACsec up to 100 GbE line rate.
None of these platforms has a Juniper end-of-life announcement as of September 2026. Earlier PTX hardware that BrightStar has supplied, including the PTX1000 (PTX1K-72Q, end of support October 22, 2028) and PTX10008/PTX10016 line cards such as the PTX10K-LC1101 (end of support April 3, 2029), is tracked on our Juniper end-of-life page; ask us about availability of those spares.
