The Juniper PTX10002-36QDD is a 2U fixed-configuration packet transport router with 36 high-density 800-Gigabit Ethernet QSFP-DD network ports, built on Juniper’s Express 5 silicon. Each port can be channelized to 2 x 400G, 8 x 100G, 4 x 100G, 3 x 100G, 2 x 100G, 2 x 50G, 4 x 25G or 4 x 10G, so one chassis can terminate a mix of 800G, 400G and 100G links. Throughput is 28.8 Tbps in normal power mode and 14.4 Tbps in power-optimized mode.
All network ports, channelized or not, support inline MACsec encryption. The router accepts 2200 W or 3000 W power supplies in AC/HVAC/HVDC or DC versions and runs Junos OS Evolved. Like the PTX10001-36MR, Juniper positions it for peering, core routing and infrastructure edge routing in cloud provider, service provider and content provider networks.
800G/400G core and peering: three times the capacity of the PTX10001-36MR in twice the rack space.
Mixed-rate aggregation: channelize ports to 100G or 400G for today’s links and reclaim them for 800G later.
Encrypted backbone links: MACsec on every network port, including channelized ports.
The PTX10002-36QDD is the 2U, 800GbE-port router at 28.8 Tbps with MACsec on all ports; the PTX10001-36MR is the 1U, 400GbE-port router at 9.6 Tbps. Choose the 36QDD when 800G links or more than 24 ports of 400G are in the plan. See our PTX Series buying guide for how the two compare with the PTX10003.
Each unit BrightStar Systems supplies is tested on our 9-point process and covered by our 1-year in-house warranty for end users (90 days for resellers). Specify the power supply type and wattage you need when requesting a quote. We also buy surplus PTX10002 units; see our sell Juniper equipment page.
Request a quote: state the quantity, power supply type and wattage, and any optics you need. Lifecycle status is tracked on our Juniper end-of-life page.

Yes. Each 800GbE port can be channelized to 2 x 400G, or to 100G, 50G, 25G and 10G configurations, per Juniper’s hardware guide.
No. It does not appear on Juniper’s PTX Series hardware milestones list as of September 2026.
