Used Juniper MPC5E-40G10G Modular Port Concentrator For Sale
The MPC5E-40G10G is a Modular Port Concentrator (MPC) for Juniper MX Series modular routers, including the MX240, MX480, MX960, MX2008, MX2010 and MX2020. It’s a fixed-configuration device, meaning it does not require Modular Interface Cards (MICs).
Many Juniper MPCs are designed as modular devices that support two MICs. Each MIC has its own port configuration and can be swapped out with other MICs, which provides more flexibility.
The MPC5E-40G10G is designed with six QSFP+ ports that support up to 40G Ethernet and 24 SFP+ ports that support 10G Ethernet.
However, the maximum capacity on the MPC5E-40G10G is 240 Gbps, which limits the number operable ports at any given time. The MPC5E-40G10G supports the following configurations:
- Six ports that support up to 40G Ethernet
- 24 ports that support up to 10G Ethernet
- Three ports that support up to 40G and 12 ports that support up to 10G Ethernet
The MPC5E-40G10G also is referred to as the 6x40GE + 24x10GE MPC5E. It can be upgraded with an add-on license to enable flexible queuing, which supports up to 32,000 queues.
Juniper MX Series MPCs are broken down into several classes, beginning with MPC1E and ending with the most powerful MPC10E line cards. The MPC5E-40G10G is one of four line cards that fall under the MPC5E class, which has more models than any other class.
Some MX Series routers, including the MX240, MX480 and the MX960, must be configured to enhanced-IP or enhanced-Ethernet in order for the MPC5E-40G10G to power on. However, Juniper’s MX2008, MX2010 and MX2020 routers only support enhanced-IP.
