Overview
The
Arista DCS-7280CR3-32D4-R is a high-capacity
100GbE / 400GbE fixed-configuration switch built on the
7280R3 deep-buffer architecture. It delivers
32 × 100GbE QSFP28 interfaces along with
4 × 400GbE QSFP-DD uplink ports, providing flexible aggregation and high-bandwidth spine connectivity in modern routed data center fabrics.
As part of the
Arista 7280R3 Series, this platform is engineered to maintain predictable performance under bursty east–west traffic conditions common in large-scale EVPN/VXLAN deployments. The
-R designation indicates
rear-to-front airflow, designed for hot-aisle containment and rear-exhaust rack layouts.
BrightStar Systems supplies professionally tested refurbished units backed by our 1-Year In-House Warranty, with validated airflow and power supply configurations.
Key Hardware Characteristics
- Port configuration: 32 × 100GbE QSFP28 ports with 4 × 400GbE QSFP-DD uplinks. Supports breakout configurations depending on optics, cabling, and EOS configuration.
- Deep-buffer design: Built on the 7280R3 platform to absorb microbursts and congestion events in aggregation, DCI, and storage traffic flows.
- Routed fabric optimization: Designed for high-throughput EVPN/VXLAN spine–leaf architectures requiring stable queue behavior.
- Arista EOS: Supports automation frameworks, streaming telemetry, programmable APIs, and advanced routing protocols.
- Redundancy: Field-replaceable power supplies and hot-swappable fan modules (configuration dependent).
Operational Use Cases
- Aggregation layer switching in high-density 100GbE environments
- Spine roles with 400GbE uplink expansion
- Data center interconnect (DCI) requiring burst tolerance
- IP edge and storage environments where deep buffering is required
Airflow Variant
This model is the
rear-to-front (-R) airflow variant. For cold-aisle to hot-aisle deployments requiring front-to-rear airflow, see:
