MPC5E-100G10G
The MPC5E-100G10G is a Modular Port Concentrator (MPC) that’s compatible with Juniper MX Series modular routers, including the MX240, MX480, MX960, MX2008, MX2010 and MX2020.
It’s a fixed-configuration MPC — all the ports are built directly into the device. Modular MPCs, on the other hand, require Modular Interface Cards (MICs), and each MPC supports two MICs. Each MIC is designed with its own set of ports and can be swapped out with each other.
The MPC5E is one of several MPC classes, which range from MPC1E to MPC10E. The MPC5E class has more models than any other class of fixed-configuration MPCs.
The MPC5E-100G10 is one of four models, and it includes two CFP2 ports that support up to 100G Ethernet and four SFP+ ports that support up to 10G Ethernet.
The MPC5E-100G10G is also referred to as the 2x100GE + 4x10GE MPC5E. It’s one of only two MPC5E models that support up to 100G Ethernet. The other is the MPC5EQ-100G10G, which also includes the Hierarchical Quality of Service (HQoS) feature.
Although the MPC5E-100G10G does not include HQoS, it can be upgraded with an add-on license to enable flexible queuing, which supports up to 32,000 queues.
On MX240, MX480 and MX960 routers, specifically, the MPC5E-100G10G will power on only if the network services mode on the router is configured to enhanced-IP or enhanced-Ethernet. The MX2008, MX2010 and MX2020 routers only support the enhanced-IP configuration.
The MPC5E-100G10G has a maximum capacity of 240 Gbps, which is enough throughput to support both 100G and all four 10G Ethernet ports on the device.
