    EX4300-48P Ethernet Switch

    The EX4300-48P is one of several Juniper EX4300 switch models, all of which are designed as fixed-configuration switches, excluding additional modules. EX4300 switches are available in 24-, 32- and 48-port configurations. They all are only 1 rack unit (RU) in size.

    Juniper EX4300-48P switches have 48 ports that support up to 1G Ethernet. In addition, they have four QSFP+ ports on the back that support up to 40G Ethernet.

    By default, the QSFP+ ports are dedicated Virtual Chassis Ports (VCPs), but they can be set up as network ports on EX4300-48P models.

    The Virtual Chassis feature allows you to link together as many as 10 Juniper EX4300 switches, or as many as 10 Juniper EX4300 and EX4600 switches — so long as the EX4300 multigigabit models are not included in the setup.

    EX4300-48P switches also support an uplink module, the EX-UM-4X4SFP, with four SFP+ ports that support up to 10G Ethernet. These ports also support SFP optics and can be set up with any combination of SFP+ and SFP transceivers. They also can be set up as VCPs.

    The uplink module, however, is not included with the base EX4300-48P model and must be purchased separately.

    One of the stand-out features of this particular model is that it’s a Power over Ethernet+ (PoE+) switch, which means each port is capable of delivering up to 30 watts of power. Only the highest performing Juniper EX4300 switches include PoE+ ports.

    Not all Juniper EX4300 switches include fan modules, but the EX4300-48P is one of the models that do. It comes with two that are designed with front-to-back airflow.
