Juniper MPC7E-10G Modular Port Concentrator for Sale

The MPC7E-10G is a Modular Port Concentrator (MPC) that’s compatible with several MX Series routers, including the MX240, MX480, MX960 and MX2008, MX2010 and MX2020. With 40 SFP+ ports that support up to 10G Ethernet, it offers the best 10G port density of all MPCs.

It’s designed as a fixed-configuration MPC as opposed to a modular MPC, which supports two Modular Interface Card (MICs). Each MIC is designed with its own port configuration and can be swapped out with other MICs. This allows for more flexibility in regards to flexibility.

The MPC7E-10G belongs to the MPC7E class of Juniper line cards. There are only two MPC7E line cards; the other, model number MPC7E-MRATE, is designed for 40G and 100G Ethernet.

Although the MPC7E-10G has a maximum capacity of 400 Gbps, which is enough throughput to support the MPC’s 40-port density of 10G Ethernet, there are other requirements that each router must meet in order to utilize the 40 ports of 10G Ethernet this MPC has to offer.

Juniper MX240, MX480 and MX960 routers must be equipped with high-capacity power supplies and fan trays. In addition, the MPC7E-10G requires the updated Switch Control Board (SCB) model, the SCBE2-MX. And the MX2008, MX2010 and MX2020 require an adapter card.

In addition, on the MX240, MX480 and MX960 routers, the network services mode must be configured to enhanced-IP or enhanced-Ethernet in order for the MPC7E-10G to power on. There’s no additional configuration required on the MX2008, MX2010 or MX2020 routers.
